ADDITIONAL DETAILS
Deepa Narayanan & Andrew Kurtz from the NCI SBIR Development Center will discuss the upcoming SBIR and STTR funding opportunities, the Bridge Award and offer practical advice on strategies for developing successful NCI SBIR & STTR funding proposals. Presentations and discussions will provide in-depth information about funding opportunities available to small businesses to support the research, development, and commercialization of technologies and products designed to prevent, diagnose, and treat cancer.
New contract funding opportunities for about $11MM in a range of novel technology areas to help successfully finance and lead innovations to commercialization will be discussed. The NCI SBIR Program solicits proposals for SBIR contracts once annually. As compared to grant funding opportunities, SBIR contract topics are focused in scope and require the completion of specific activities and deliverables. In order to catalyze targeted technology development in key need areas that will result in a commercial product, the NCI SBIR Program is moving more of its resources towards contracts. The SBIR and STTR Programs offer funding in nanotechnology, anti-cancer agents, biomarkers, proteomics, pharmacodynamics, and many more areas of interest to the NCI.
In addition, the session will highlight the new SBIR Phase II Bridge Award, which provides up to $3 million funding to advance a promising therapeutic or device toward commercialization.
Also learn about new programs that NCI has launched to support its SBIR companies in moving their technologies towards the marketplace. These include the NCI SBIR Investor Forum to be held November 9th, 2010 at Stanford University. This is a unique opportunity for NCI's top SBIR firms to showcase their companies to investors. NCI will also describe its new SBIR Regulatory Assistance Program in development.
